Cooking on a Budget Networking Events

Feb 26, 2024

FVC hospitality students, in partnership with Forth Valley Food Futures, are hosting two special networking events on the theme of nutritious and affordable home-cooked family meals.

Forth Valley College hospitality student-led events.

Forth Valley Food Futures is proud to support these events which will showcase the skills-for-life being developed by students undertaking their SCQF 5 qualification. Supported by teaching staff, the hospitality students will prepare a range of taster dishes demonstrating affordable, nutritious and sustainable meals cooked on a budget with ingredients typically available from food pantries and supermarkets. Attendees will also be provided with an accompanying information and recipe booklet to take away and share via their community organisations, or directly with their family, neighbours and communities.

On Friday 8 March, at FVC’s Alloa campus, keynote speaker Carolyn McGill will share case studies from Forth Valley Food & Drink Network‘s recent Good Food Economy Project, run in partnership with Forth Valley Food Futures. The project has audited independent food businesses to reveal the positive social & environmental impacts they provide to their local communities. Carolyn will also take the opportunity to launch a self assessment tool for  businesses to measure their own positive impacts and record their contribution to the Forth Valley’s good food economy.

On Monday 11 March, at FVC’s Falkirk campus, keynote speaker Sheona McMorran will speak about the vital role KLSB Community Pantry plays in supporting the Stenhousemuir community with an affordable and dignified way to shop for food, including fresh nutritious fruit & veg
